not much to say...

not much to say.

So when looking at modern tattoos, some people get tattooed for one of four reasons:
1. Got drunk
2. Lost a bet
3. has some meaning
4. wants to look like everyone else

The point of tattoos has changed over the years. It used to be that it was a cultural thing and status in that culture. Now it is simply that the person wants it.

Celtic tattoos are the fad for men with large biceps.
Tattoos on your lower back so it shows when your shirt rides up and your pants can sit where they are supposed to, these are generally referenced to as a "tramp stamp" on females.
The tattoo on a person's back is usually the best tattoo on a person's body. It has a large area for a piece.

This is all for this week. Sorry so short. I'll do better next time

History in the making...again

History in the making

To get started, here is a link that anyone can go to, and can pick out the specific part of the world or group of people that you want to know how tattooing became part of that society.

In Africa, not being racist, please don't think I am, since the people that live there happen to be black and the ink of the time happened to be black, the art of "tatau" was used. This is the raising of skin and scarring with a knife or razor. The scars were placed when a female was "becoming a woman" or after she had children. Males were given scars when they reached manhood and other milestones in their lives.

If a person did not have scars they were outcasts.

Women also had tattoos placed on their face because they believed that the spirits entered through the holes in the skin, thus they needed it to be placed somewhere that clothing was not always covering.

The tattoo machine was first patented in Great Britain, by Samuel O'Reilly, and later followed to the Americas.

That's the history for now.

A little intro

This blog will be an insight as to the reason for so much ink on my particular college campus.

First, if you call a tattoo a "tat" you shouldn't have one. It is seen as disrespectful to those that have tattoos, thus ink injected into their skin by a needle. This is a painful experience and to disrespect the reasons that some had to go though this, is not very nice. Just a warning so as to not offend someone.

Second, flash art, those pictures you see on the wall in a tattoo parlor, are not real tattoos. They are used over and over and are unoriginal. Be original and design your own.

Third, the fact that someone can not only draw this pice of art on a person's skin, or paper, is nothing to the art of injecting ink into a person's skin, flawlessly or nearly flawlessly. Art of a new day. This is truly a step forward for artists and art lovers of our day.

In Sanjay Asthana's media design class, the first lesson is to know the history of something before you can appreciate the modern twists that our society have adopted.

The idea that tattoos are popular and so costly make sense, it is a work of art placed on your body. Just a little intro for what my blog is.
